26TH MARINE REGIMENT |
World War II Joseph Peccoralo was one of three Hackensack friends who grew up together and joined the Marines during World War II. They were all wounded on Iwo Jima. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded on Iwo Jima. The third friend was Carl Padovano, who landed on another part of the island with the fifth Marine Division, which was to fight for Mount Surabachi . Joseph Peccoralo did another interview for The Record 40 years later in an article on February 19, 1985. When Joe Peccoralo came home, he became a police officer for the city of Hackensack .
